A large new bungalow on Cluny Road opposite the Botanic Gardens.
Due to its commanding position on top of a hill above the road, we tried to use large cantilevers and horizontal planes to make building ‘float’ so as not to appear too bulky when viewed from the road.
The rear side conceals a sunken courtyard and pool to allow light into the basement.
The whole new design tried to achieve an intimate human scale with warm materials and allowance for cross ventilation.
Photovoltaic cells cover the attic roof.
